Alena Gross is a Ph.D. candidate in Political Science at Northern Arizona University, specializing in the intersection of employment status, political behavior, and collective action, with a particular focus on platform labor organizing in the digital economy. Her dissertation investigates how institutional conditions and organizational dynamics shape the political engagement of non-standard workers, such as Uber drivers and freelance platform workers, in the United States and Europe. She also holds a Ph.D. in History from the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus and has extensive teaching and research experience in both political science and history. Alena has authored a scholarly monograph and numerous peer-reviewed articles on topics ranging from international cooperation to social movements and civil society development in post-socialist contexts.
