André Luiz Alcântara Castilho Venâncio is a Control and Automation Engineer (UTFPR, 2017) and holds a Master’s (2019) and a Ph.D. (2024) in Industrial and Systems Engineering from PUCPR's Graduate Program in Production and Systems Engineering (PPGEPS). During his academic journey, he was a CAPES master's fellow and a recipient of a Fundação Araucária scholarship for his doctoral research. His expertise lies in Industry 4.0, Systems Interoperability, and Multi-Criteria Decision-Making, with a focus on digital transformation and enterprise interoperability. During his Ph.D., André collaborated with Renault do Brasil on several digital transformation projects. Among these, the Online Cost Management project addressed inefficiencies caused by inadequate system interoperability, leading to improved operational cost management. By integrating ERP cost data with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and developing dashboards, the project sought to enhance assertiveness in managing operational costs. This improvement was estimated to increase efficiency by 75%, particularly in primary cost management activities, such as the precise allocation of expenses to appropriate cost centers, with further potential benefits in secondary and systemic processes. The Wheels Calibration Dashboard project focused on resolving a production bottleneck. André implemented real-time data transmission and performance dashboards via the OPC UA protocol, reducing calibration rework by 80%. This project demonstrated the transformative potential of digital solutions in production efficiency. In the cars bodywork Vision Checkup System, André conducted the development of an improvement in the inspections' system by leveraging machine learning and optimization techniques. The project served as a pilot for integrating MLOps practices and provided a roadmap for scaling data-driven quality inspection processes across production environments. Additionally, the project established a framework for implementing MLOps practices and promoting collaboration across cross-functional teams. In 2023, André participated in a research extension at Université de Sherbrooke, Canada, through the Emerging Leaders in the Americas Program (ELAP) program, exploring the intersection of execution and operations systems from a business perspective. This experience broadened his understanding of management challenges in digital transformation and reinforced his ability to align technological solutions with organizational goals. His research was presented at the 90th Acfas Congress in Montreal. In addition to his academic and industrial contributions, André co-founded industry-related startups and developed decision-support tools for technological maturity assessments. He has published extensively in journals such as Production and the International Journal of Computer Integrated Manufacturing, with works like "Digital Transformation Framework for Adequacy of Maintenance Systems for Industry 4.0" being widely recognized. He has also conducted workshops, taught specialization courses, and worked with interdisciplinary teams to develop digital transformation projects, particularly in manufacturing execution and operations management. Career: (2011) - worked in the field of test engineering. (2014) - had the first company accelerated in the Startups process at the PUCPR innovation agency, where he contemplated the company development process comprising: Lean Startup, Business Model Canvas, Minimum Viable Product, Value Proposition Design and Pitch Techniques. (2016) - participated in an academic internship as a researcher in the interoperability laboratory at PUCPR. (2017) - graduated as a Control and Automation Engineer from UTFPR. (2018) - he had participated as a professor assistant in the classes on Assessment Methods and Decision-Making in Industrial Automation (Industry 4.0) at UTFPR. (2019) - he finished his master's and started his doctorate also by PPGEPS. (2022) - still at Renault, he participates in digital transformation initiatives in processes that range from the connection of machines with the cloud environment to the automation of cost management and the management of factory KPIs. (2023) - he participated in a research extension program funded by the Emerging Leaders in the Americas Program (ELAP) scholarship in Canada. During this time, he deepened his expertise in execution and management systems, gaining advanced insights into Industry 4.0 from the perspective of the Management School at Université de Sherbrooke. (2024) - he completed his Ph.D. program at PPGEPS.
