About

I am Professor of Intelligent Mobility at the Centre for Transport Studies (CTS) within the Department of Civil, Environmental and Geomatic Engineering (CEGE) in the Faculty of Engineering at University College London. I am Founder and Director of Intelligent Mobility @ UCL (IM@UCL). My vision is to enable humans to trust and fully exploit the benefits of future mobility services through new technology and innovation. Addressing complex real-world challenges associated with the realisation of my vision requires a strong capability in multidisciplinary thinking. Over the last 10 years, my research focus has been on Intelligent Mobility, with an emphasis on exploring interactions with semi- and fully-autonomous vehicles in different contexts (e.g., shared spaces, CAVs), an area of application that significantly benefits from Robotics and AI. I am interested in the complexity of interaction and how intuitive, intelligent, human-centric and personalised control systems can influence it. Having a first degree in Civil Engineering, I completed my Master of Science (MSc) in Advanced Architectural Studies at the Bartlett School of Architecture (University College London) in 2009. My PhD research at Imperial College London focused on a new microscopic model for the simulation of shared space schemes. From 2013 to 2016, I was a Research Associate in the Centre for System Engineering and Innovation / Port Operations Research and Technology Centre and Lloyd’s Register Foundation Transport Risk Management Centre at Imperial College London. From 2016 to 2017, I was a Lecturer in Intelligent Mobility in the Transport Research Group (TRG) at the University of Southampton.
