Barry Sanders

Barry Sanders is a Professor at the University of Calgary where he obtained his Bachelors degree. His Master's degree was supervised by Sir Thomas Kibble and his PhD supervised by Sir Peter Knight, both at Imperial College London, and he was a postdoc with Gerard Milburn (Australian National University then University of Queensland) and with Crispin Gardiner (University of Waikato). For 12 years, Sanders was a professor (Head of Department for six years) at Macquarie University Sydney, then a professor at the University of Calgary since 2003. Sanders is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada, the American Physical Society, the Optical Society of America and the Institute of Physics (UK). He was held visiting positions in India, USA, China, Israel, Austria, and Canada, and he is former Editor-in-Chief of the New Journal of Physics and received the 2022 City of Calgary International Achievement Award.
