After graduating in Classical Philology at the University of Barcelona (2000), I specialized in Amazigh (Berber) linguistics. I did a couple of predoctoral research stays, the first one at the Centre de Recherche Berbère of the Inalco in Paris (2004) and the second one at the Institut für Afrikanistik of the University of Cologne (2005). From 2002 until 2010 my research was focused on linguistic contacts in Roman Africa and Cyrenaica between Latin and Greek on the one hand and Paleo-Amazigh (Old Berber) on the other hand. Although some outputs of this research were published as papers in journals and as chapters of books, the monograph resulting from my PhD La llengua amaziga a l’antiguitat a partir de les fonts gregues i llatines, published in 2011 in two volumes with the addition of a cartographic annex, constitutes my major contribution to the field. The second axis of my scientific research is the lexical and grammatical standardization of Northern Amazigh: (1) mostly the standard dictionary of Northern Amazigh both in the paper version of 2015 and the on-line version of 2018; (2) a standard grammar of Northern Amazigh (2021); (3) some papers on standarditzation criteria have been publishing or are in the process of being published in journals and proceedings of colloques; (4) the edition of a collection of Amazigh proverbs and (5) the coordination of a team devoted to the making of didactic materials. I lecture Latin language, Indo-European historical and comparative linguistics and Amazigh linguistics at the University of Barcelona.
