César Augusto Henao Botero

About

César Henao Botero is an Industrial Engineer from the Universidad Nacional de Colombia, with a Master's and Ph.D. in Engineering Sciences from the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile. His research focuses on two main areas: (i) Industrial Engineering, developing optimization models for task and shift scheduling for multiskilled staff in uncertain conditions, incorporating labor flexibility, preferences, and diversity, contributing to SDGs 8 (decent work and economic growth) and 9 (industry, innovation, and infrastructure); (ii) Transportation Engineering, specializing in active and sustainable mobility, public and freight transport, supporting SDGs 10 (reduced inequalities) and 11 (sustainable cities and communities). Currently, he is a professor and researcher in the Department of Industrial Engineering at Universidad del Norte, where he coordinates the Master's and Doctoral Programs in Industrial Engineering. He also leads the Productivity and Competitiveness Research Group and is part of TRANVIA, both classified at level A1 by Minciencias. He is affiliated with academic societies such as MCDM, PANAMSTR, RAM, and ASOCIO. He has led and participated in externally funded research projects and published numerous articles in high-impact journals, including IJPE, CAIE, JORS, MBE, TR-PA, and Transport Reviews, among others.
