Dr. Chen is a project assistant professor of Product Design Department at Ming Chuan University. His research interests include applied machine learning and deep learning in product design research, such as automotive styling, smart medical devices, and human interface devices. His research also focuses on using digital human models(DHMs), computer aided design/manufacture (CAD/CAM ) simulation, and robotics technology(such as SLAM) in design education. Dr. Chen graduated from Taipei University of Technology with master's and doctoral degrees. His expertise includes data-driven product design, medical device development, product mechanical design, and human factors. His background in a traditional design-related program provided him with a solid foundation in design, such as perspective sketching, engineering ability, and CAD. Additionally, Dr. Chen has over 25 years of experience in product research and design. He worked as an R&D design engineer at a human interface devices company early in his career. Later, he joined a technology company, which primarily involved in product development in two major fields: graphics cards and smart medical products. The graphics card (GPUs) is an essential hardware behind the AI revolution and the work experience guide him from traditional product design to data-driven product design.
