Summary

My MSc Physics thesis, "Material Modelling Using Density Functional Theory," demonstrated the computational power of physics to predict material properties with doping without experimental synthesis. Under Prof. Basharat Ahmad Want, I utilized first-principles DFT (using CASTEP) to investigate the structural, electronic, and optical properties of ZnO and doped variants (In, Sb, Tb, Eu). This work elucidated dopant-induced alterations in band gap, dielectric function, and absorption spectra, underscoring the utility of computational quantum mechanics in optoelectronic material design.
