About
I hold a PhD in International Relations and Graduate in Political Science at the Autonomous University of Barcelona. I joined the Autonomous University of Barcelona as an associate professor in International Relations in 2022. I have worked as a research fellow at CIDOB (Barcelona Center for International Affairs) since 2005 and a part-time lecturer at the Autonomous University of Barcelona, Blanquerna (Universitat Ramon Llull) and the Institut Barcelona d'Estudis Internacionals (IBEI). From 2013 to 2022 I was the team-leader of El Hiwar, a program on euro-arab diplomacy implemented by the College of Europe (Bruges). From 2016 to 2019 I was the scientific coordinator of MENARA (www.menaraproject.eu), a H2020 project on geopolitics of the Middle East and North Africa and in 2010 I was seconded as an advisor in the Mediterranean Unit of the Spanish Ministry of Foreign Affairs during the rotating presidency of the Council of the EU. I am an active member of the Observatory of European Foreign Policy since 2001 and I have participated in different international research projects and networks such as SAHWA, EuroMeSCo, EU4SEAS and IN:EX, MedReset, FEUTURE, EULISTCO, EUIDEA, among others. I am part of the international advisory board of Mediterranean Politics and IEMed's Mediterranean Yearbook. My areas of expertise are geopolitics, (inter)regionalism, cooperation and conflict dynamics in the Mediterranean, the Middle East and North Africa region, European foreign and security policy, Spanish Foreign Policy and foresight.
