About

Doing the best I can at creating value, beauty and utility out of our understanding of nature. I work at the Bioprocess Engineering chair group of Wageningen University & Research; specifically within the Biomanufacturing and Digital Twins theme. My research line revolves around three main topics: (a) high-throughput genome engineering and strain optimisation, (b) microbial whole-cell biosensors and cybergenetics, and (c) Safe-and-Sustainable-by-Design solutions. With a background in Cellular and Molecular Biotechnology, Industrial Biotechnology and Microbial Synthetic Biology, I live fascinated by the harmonious complexity hidden in natural processes and I am deeply interested in an academic research career. At the moment, I am also a teacher in the following courses within different study programmes of Wageningen University: Introduction to Systems and Synthetic Biology, Advanced Learning and Testing with Synthetic Biology, Bioprocess Design, and Biotechnology I.
