Harbi Al-Masri

About

Prof. Dr. Harbi Tomah Al-Masri, Vice Dean of Scientific Research at Al al-Bayt University in Jordan. He is a staff member of the Department of Chemistry, Faculty of Science, at Al al-Bayt University in Jordan. In 1968, Prof. Dr. Harbi Tomah Al-Masri was born in Jordan, Irbid, and AnNoimeh. He undertook undergraduate and postgraduate studies in chemistry at Yarmouk University in Jordan (B.Sc. 1990, M.Sc. 1993). Prof. Fatima Esmadi and Prof. Ibrahim Jibril guided his M.Sc. research. It was mostly about making new cyclopentadienyl ruthenium thio- and seleno-carboxylate complexes. He joined the department of applied chemistry at Jordan University of Science and Technology as a teaching assistant (1993–2000) following his Ph.D. study at Leipzig University in Germany under the supervision of Prof. Evamarie Hey-Hawkins (2000–2004). For boron neutron capture therapy, he concentrated his Ph.D. research on synthesizing novel boron derivatives with various transition metals. He worked at Cardiff University, U.K. (2003), in Prof. Cameron Joins' laboratories, and then joined the department of chemistry at Taibah University, Saudi Arabia, as an assistant professor (2004–August 8, 2014) and as an associate professor (August 8, 2014). He joined the department of chemistry at Al al-Bayt University in Jordan in February 2015. On June 7, 2021, Al al-Bayt University in Jordan promoted him to full professor. His main research interests include boron chemistry, phosphine transition metals, main group chemistry, organoselenium and organosulfur chemistry, and transition metal complexes. His extensive research efforts have culminated in 43 publications in high-impact international scientific journals.
