Founding Lead Engineer (Mobile & Platform) Company: Bubld Location: United States (Remote) Type: Full-time Stage: Pre-launch → early growth Compensation: to be discussed based on experience About Bubld Bubld is a two-sided mobile marketplace connecting car owners with on-demand mobile car wash professionals. Think “the car wash that comes to you.” We are at the final testing stage of our iOS and Android apps and preparing for launch. We’ve built our initial platform with an overseas development team and are now entering the most critical phase of the company: post-launch ownership, stability, and scale. The Role We are hiring a Founding Lead Engineer to take full ownership of Bubld’s mobile apps and platform after launch. This role is not about rewriting everything from scratch. It’s about ownership, judgment, and control — understanding what exists, stabilizing it, improving it, and leading the technical direction forward. You will work directly with the founder and have real authority over the codebase, releases, and engineering decisions. What You’ll Do · Take ownership of the existing iOS, Android, and backend codebase · Audit, understand, and document the current architecture · Manage production releases, hotfixes, and app store submissions · Lead bug triage and technical prioritization post-launch · Oversee and coordinate an overseas development team (initially) · Push back on unnecessary scope, change orders, and technical debt · Gradually reduce reliance on external vendors · Translate business requirements into clear technical execution · Build the foundation for future scale (performance, reliability, security) Who You Are You are someone who: · Is comfortable inheriting imperfect code · Has strong technical judgment under pressure · Values ownership over titles · Has seen real production issues and knows how to respond · Wants to help build a company, not just ship tickets Requirements Must-have · 6+ years of professional software engineering experience · Experience shipping real mobile apps with users (and preferably payments) · Strong understanding of mobile app architecture o React Native / Flutter or native iOS & Android · Backend familiarity (Firebase, Supabase, AWS, GCP, or similar) · Experience working with or taking over vendor-built systems · Authorized to work in the United States Nice-to-have · Early-stage startup experience · Two-sided marketplace or on-demand platform experience · CI/CD, app release, or DevOps exposure Compensation & Growth · Competitive salary (startup-stage appropriate) · Opportunity to grow into Head of Engineering / CTO as Bubld scales · Direct impact on product, architecture, and company trajectory Why This Role Matters This is a foundational hire.
