Remote Sensing Engineering Intern
Organization: Modern Technology Solutions Inc
Location: Dayton, Ohio, United States
We're seeking a highly motivated data science, data engineering, physics, or electrical engineering student for a cooperative educational (Coop) position in our Dayton, OH office. The intern will work on projects involving multi-platform, space-based sensor fusion using synthetic imagery data. The supporting team includes subject matter experts in space-domain imagery and target state estimation. The intern will begin by learning and working with the Air Force Institute of Technology's (AFIT) Scene and Sensor Emulation Tool (ASSET) to create synthetic multi-modal imagery of scenes with a variety of airborne targets being injected into the scene. ASSET is a physics-based imagery modelling program originally developed at AFIT with the goal of producing large amounts of synthetic imagery data for AI/ML training purposes. The intern will then learn and use various image processing techniques to fuse the multi-modal and multi-sensor imagery of the same scene. Once a methodology has been developed to conduct the sensor fusion, the process will be automated by developing an image processing pipeline. Have or is pursuing a BS degree in data science, data engineering, physics, mathematics, or electrical engineering Interested in space-based remote sensing Self-motivated and able to work independently with help from team members Capable of clearly communicating technical topics with other team members GPA of at least 3.0 on a 4.0 scale Extensive experience in programming with Python and/or MATLAB Active US Secret Clearance Clearance: Ability to obtain/maintain a US government security clearance.
