About

Functional signs in biological signaling systems (DNA, RNAs, proteins, and resonances) as in natural languages (English, Chinese, ....) also require putting true narrative-like strings into dynamic relations between physical entities in the material world. The most delicate of such processes in biology are found in meiosis (first and foremost) as gametes are loaded with information crucial to normal development and in mitosis (secondarily but still very important to functionality) where that information is transmitted and deployed downstream. Our immune barriers are most intense for gamete loading where disruption from stress factors such as radiant energy, toxicants, pathogens, and their interactions lead to undesirable outcomes including deformities and premature fatalities. The study of sign systems and their breakdowns defines Oller's current focus of attention as a theoretician and researcher.
