José Peres

About

José Alcides Peres was graduated in Chemical Engineering (5 years) at University of Coimbra, Portugal. He completed the PhD degree in Chemistry at University of Trás-os-Montes and Alto Douro (UTAD), Vila Real, Portugal in 2002 and obtained the Habilitation degree in 2011 at UTAD. He is Associate Professor with Habilitation at UTAD, since June 2013. Presently is member of the Chemistry Centre of Vila Real (CQVR), where is the Principal Investigator of research group Environmental Chemistry. He is the author and co-author of more than 80 full-papers published SCI journals. Has more than 200 publications in national and international conferences, 15 papers in national scientific periodicals, 2 book chapters and co-inventor of 2 patents. Has been involved in 18 research projects and 7 enterprise projects. Has/is also supervised/supervising 7 post-doctoral researchers, 6 PhD students, 36 master students and 25 last-year undergraduate projects. He has also participated in more than 120 academic juries (78 MSc and 50 PhD). He was the Chair Conference of 5th International Conference on Green Chemistry and Sustainable Engineering (GreenChem-22) which took place in Rome (Italy) from 20 to 22 July 2022. He has been working for 25 years in the development of Advanced Oxidation Processes (AOPs) such as Fenton reagent, homogeneous and heterogeneous photo-Fenton, H2O2/UV, ozonation, O3/UV, ferrioxalate/solar radiation and heterogeneous photocatalysis for industrial wastewater treatment, water desinfection and application on chemical contaminants degradation. He also studied combined treatments (physical-chemical and biological) particularly for agro-industrials wastewaters.
