Lois Balmer
About
I am a well-rounded academic leader with over 15 years of research and teaching, with a strong track record and university service. Currently, I am an Associate Professor within the School of Medical and Health Science at Edith Cowan University and the a Principle Research Fellow at the Dobney Hypertension Centre at the University of Western Australia. I have published over 50 research articles and have received over 1,400 citations. Secured successful funding of over $200,000. I have over ten years of experience in developing and delivering high-quality unit materials that are learner-centered, well-designed, pedagogically sound, and reflective of student feedback. Resulting in one local and one international teaching award. I am a geneticist who works on metabolic syndrome and the associated illnesses such as diabetes and cardiovascular disease. Whether investigating the health of individuals after COVID or the impact of dietary intervention on kidney and heart health I am a well-developed researcher with wide-ranging skills and collaborators.
