Lucas Platero serves as an Associate Professor in Social Psychology at the King Juan Carlos University (URJC), and as the Director of University Publications at Bellaterra Publishing House. In 2020, Platero was awarded the Emma Goldman Prize supporting new feminist knowledge in Europe. His most recent research focuses on the experience of LGBTQA+ individuals with COVID-19, and the experiences of trans* men who give birth. Platero holds a PhD from the National University of Distance Education of Spain (UNED), were he was awarded the Extraordinary Award; also has a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the Complutense University of Madrid. He has worked as vocational training teacher between 2004 and 2019, as civil servant. His latest participation in EU funded projects include his leadership in the URJC with the CLICK (Connecting families, educators and policymakers to combat violence and improve the well-being of LGBTIQ children through an intersectional approach) CERV-2024-DAPHNE, 2025-2027) and Colorful Childhoods (CERV-2021-DAPHNE, 2022-2024); and a senior researcher position at INIA, Intersex – New Interdisciplinary Approaches (01/03/2020 a 01/03/2024), Horizon 2020 Marie Sklodowska-Curie Actions.
