About

Maryam Azam is the PhD Student pursuing her degree in Molecular Biology at the Centre of Excellence in Molecular Biology, University of the Punjab, Pakistan. Her research is focused on investigating the therapeutic impacts of primed mesenchymal stem cells for the treatment of hard-to-heal skin wounds including burns and diabetic ulcers. To procure the objective, she endeavored the approach of modulating stem cells with various bioactive compounds and evaluating their regenerative and translational potential in animal wound models. So far, she has published 11 research articles (IF: 45, HI from google scholar: 5; 91 citations in February 2023). Further, her career interests are multidisciplinary as she aimed to unravel the mechanistic insights and signaling cascades connected to chronic inflammation in non-healing wounds to better understand the chronicity mechanism to apply the anti-inflammatory therapeutics in best possible way. In addition to this, she is keen to learn the state-of-the-art research techniques to develop next generation functional biomaterials using unconventional approaches to generate tissue-mimetics for clinical applications of soft tissue regeneration.
