I am currently a PhD researcher with a keen interest in heritage and its roles in society. Previously, I have worked in a variety of research, teaching and administrative roles, including (senior) research assistant, teaching assistant, guest lecturer, summer school session leader, assistant archivist, administrative trainee and military unit training officer. My research explores how history is mobilised through social concepts like heritage, historic landscapes, and cultural landscapes. As a heritage and landscape researcher, my interests include heritage values, heritage impacts, conservation planning, and the dynamics of historic and cultural landscapes. I am particularly interested in how the perception and use of history are shaped by society, especially through the lens of heritage and landscape, and how these are influenced by international, national, regional, and local policies. Drawing on my research experience, I also routinely teach across heritage, sociology, urban planning and politics modules. Taking a comparative, interdisciplinary and multi-method approach, I combine a range of research methods including participant observation, in-depth qualitative interviews, archival research, thematic analysis, survey techniques and statistical modelling.
