Noemí Pereda
About
Ph.D. in Clinical and Health Psychology, Tenured Associate Professor of Victimology, and Director of the Child and Adolescent Victimization Research Group (GReVIA) at the University of Barcelona. She has specialized in the developmental victimology perspective, standing out for her work in the field of the epidemiology of child abuse in Spain and Latin America. She maintains a close collaboration with Dr. David Finkelhor's team, and has conducted several research stays at the Crimes against Children Research Center at the University of New Hampshire. She collaborates on various research projects with Dr. Manuel P. Eisner at the Institute of Criminology at the University of Cambridge and is a member of the zIReN: z-proso International Research Network. She has been a member of the commission on sexual abuse of minors in the Catholic Church of the Síndic de Greuges de Catalunya, a member of the commission of the Spanish Ombudsman's Office on cases of sexual abuse in the ecclesiastical context, and has published the first study in Spain on the characteristics and consequences of this form of sexual victimization. She has coordinated the expert commission in relation to cases of sexual abuse and exploitation in the context of minors under legal protection in Mallorca (Mallorcan Institute of Social Affairs, IMAS), the research team on sexual exploitation in youth in residential centers in Cantabria (Cantabrian Institute of Social Affairs, ICASS), and the common guide for action for the detection, notification, and referral of cases of sexual exploitation of children in residential centers of the Spanish Government Delegation against Gender Violence. She is an advisor to the WHO Regional Office for Europe in the study of child and adolescent violence in Spain, expert advisor to the organization Save the Children, a member of the advisory commission of the Amparo y Justicia Foundation, coordinator of the division 'Child Abuse, Neglect, and Abandonment' of the Spanish Society of Legal and Forensic Psychology, and a trustee of the Vicki Bernadet Foundation for victims of child sexual abuse.
