Oliver Stephen Crocco

About

Dr. Oliver S. “Ozzie” Crocco is an Associate Professor in the School of Leadership and Human Resource Development (HRD) at Louisiana State University (LSU). His doctoral degree is in Human and Organizational Learning from the George Washington University, and his master’s degree is in Human Development and Psychology from Harvard University. In 2009, he began working in Southeast Asia to collaboratively develop a certificate program in organizational development with an action learning component offered to community-based organization workers in Myanmar and along the Thailand-Myanmar border. Dr. Crocco’s research focuses on human development and HRD in Southeast Asia, adult development and critical reflection, and global leadership. His book "Developing Human Resources in Southeast Asia" (Palgrave, 2021) explores the regional HRD ecosystem in Southeast Asia. His research has been awarded the 2022 Literati Awards from the European Journal of Training and Development and the Monica M. Lee Research Excellence Award (2022) for the best article published in Human Resource Development International. He received the Early Career Scholar Award from the Academy of Human Resource Development (2024), the Early Career Award from the College of Human Sciences and Education at LSU (2025), and the Rising Faculty Research Award from LSU (2024). The international focus of his work has led him to deliver workshops, lectures, and conference presentations in Ireland, Italy, Malaysia, Morocco, Myanmar, Portugal, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, South Korea, Thailand, Timor-Leste, the UK, and Vietnam. He holds an appointment as Special Lecturer at Chulalongkorn University in Thailand, where he is spending his sabbatical (August 2025 – May 2026) as a Visiting Professor. From 2021-2024, he served as a Board Member on the Academy of Human Resource Development Board of Directors and currently serves as Associate Editor for Human Resource Development Review and the Journal of Tropical Futures as well as on the editorial boards of Human Resource Development International, Advances in Developing Human Resources, and Industrial and Commercial Training.
