Paolo Cignoni
About
Dr Paolo Cignoni is a Research Director with CNR-ISTI, where he leads the Visual computing Laboratory. He was awarded by the Eurographics Association "Best Young Researcher" in 2004, and he got the "Outstanding Technical Contributions Award" in 2021. Since 2022, he is part of the ACM SIGGRAPH Academy. His research interests cover many Computer Graphics fields, including geometry processing and machine learning technologies for 3D, applied to 3D scanning data processing, digital fabrication, scientific visualisation, and digital heritage. His laboratory has provided the community with many successful and widely distributed advanced software tools that have helped millions of people's research and professional activities worldwide. One of the most well-known software systems developed by the lab is MeshLab, a widely known open-source mesh processing tool used by thousands of users in hundreds of universities, research centres, and companies. He has published more than 180 papers in international refereed journals/conferences and has served on the program committee of all the most important conferences on computer graphics. He is a member of the Eurographics Executive Committee.
