Sanjoy Kar
About
Sanjoy Kar is an academician at the Institute of Development Studies Kolkata (IDSK), a renowned social science research center in India recognized by the ICSSR. He has been leading modern information services for over nine years and is deeply involved in research, teaching, and a host of professional activities. Notably, he is a visiting fellow at the University of California, Los Angeles. He has authored course modules in Digital Humanities for the postgraduate program, served as an academic counselor, and guided numerous IGNOU dissertations. He has published several articles in national and international journals (indexed in Scopus and WoS), seminars, and conferences. His research interests span Meta Science, Responsible Research Assessment, Forensic Scientometrics, Information Resilience, Open research information (ORI), Research Data Curation & Management, Open Science and Open Innovation, Digital Humanities, Metadata Engineering, Digital Curation and Management, and Data Literacy. He is currently engaged in a research project entitled "Salt Lake: exploring a 50-year history." He is an active member of several international professional associations and learned societies, including the Canadian Sociological Association (CSA), the American Psychological Association (APA), Association for Information Science and Technology (ASIS&T), FORCE11, RDA, CODATA, and the Council of the Indian Statistical Institute, Kolkata. He has served on various committees for publications, workshop planning, and technical support, and has reviewed for prestigious journals such as Global Knowledge, Memory, and Communication (Emerald); CODATA Data Science Journal; African Journal of Science, Technology, Innovation and Development (Taylor & Francis); International Journal of Information Management Data Insights (Elsevier); Collnet Journal of Scientometrics and Information Management (Taylor & Francis); Frontiers in Big Data (Frontiers Media), and the Journal of Scientometric Research. In addition, he has reviewed more than 100 papers across various scientific journals, further demonstrating his expertise and commitment to advancing scholarly research. His ultimate objective is to advance the management and valuation of academic research services by cultivating an ecosystem grounded in open science, open scholarship, and an open research environment. Through this integrated approach, he aims to ensure barrier-free access to knowledge, thereby empowering the scientific community and the nation while maximizing the societal impact of research.
