About
i use performance as one of many ways through to asking questions of what types of spaces are needed to explore marginalised voices, fragments and the imperceptible connections that conflict shatters. i'm attempting to articulate the many methodologies used by performance artists and my/our/their work at site specific abandoned defence architecture on shorelines and migration routes. This opens up conversations about witnessing wit/hnessing and white/nessing - the pertinent conversations around colonialism often left out of ‘art’ conversations. Fortress Europe and landscapes of defence are particularly interesting in their projection of threat when they are the ones colonising … How can site responsive performance methodologies open up spaces outside of language? How could this allow for a more expansive reading of stories in and around conflict through a listening and responding to the testimonies barely perceived?
