About
Dr. TSAI SHIN-YI is an associate professor in the Department of Medicine at MacKay Medical University, the Department of Health Policy and Management at Johns Hopkins University, and an attending physician in the Department of Laboratory Medicine at MacKay Memorial Hospital. She holds the position of Director in the Taiwan Society of Blood Transfusion and is a consultant committee member in the Ministry of Health and Welfare, as well as a committee member in the Taiwan Haemovigilance System Network. As an educator, Dr. Tsai teaches courses on artificial intelligence, data analysis, data mining in smart health, laboratory diagnosis, infectious diseases, clinical microbiology, transfusion medicine, patient blood management, transfusion adverse reactions, and platelet refractoriness, programming, among others. She facilitates and coaches the team members to engage in projects and guides them to reach their goals. Meanwhile, she helps the juniors to build their academic careers through her leverage. Dr. Tsai manages multiple divisions at her hospital, namely, the blood bank and laboratories. She is also heavily involved in interpreting laboratory and genomic data, such as whole-genome sequencing and whole-genome genotyping, and explores critical research topics in circadian rhythm, patient blood management, hematology, and chronic diseases through national and hospital-wise and biobank data analysis. Besides publishing SCI papers, she has written several chapters on patient blood management and clinical transfusions in the Precision Medicine Manual and Transfusion Medicine and has been regularly invited as a reviewer for abstracts or original articles submitted to international conferences or distinguished journals. These experiences provide her with opportunities to collaborate with other experts and contribute to the fields of transfusion and translational medicine.
