Silvano Bertoldo

About

Silvano Bertoldo received his MSc in Telecommunication Engineering at Politecnico di Torino, Italy, in 2008. He worked with Remote Sensing Group (RSG) during the first six months of 2008 and then, between july 2008 and june 2009, he worked as a software-analyst in a software house in Turin. He came back to RSG in 2009 and he was mainly involved in projects concerning forest fire detection, prevention and monitoring. Keen on sport, in 2010 he attended an postgraduate improvement course in sport engineering at Politecnico di Torino. Between May 2010 to December 2012 he was full member of the International Sports Engineering Association (ISEA). He received his PhD in Communication Engineering in 2014 with a thesis on X-band weather radar. During his Ph. D. period, he was also an apprentice at Envisens Technologies s.r.l. within the project “Acquisizione del titolo di Dottore di Ricerca in Alto Apprendistato” with Regione Piemonte. Now he is an assistant research at Department of Electronics and Telecommunications at Politecnico di Torino. His research interests are manily focused on radar meteorology, other radar technologies and wireless sensor network (WSN) for environmental monitoring. Since 2014 he is student member of SIEM (Società Italiana di Elettromagnetismo), since 2016 member of EGU (European Geosciences Union) and since April 2017 member of EUFAR (Europoean Facility for Airborne Reserach as expert of the working group "Lidar and Radar Observation". He is author and coauthor of more that 30 research articles and conference proceedings. Silvano Bertoldo is keen of sport and in particular rugby, american football, volleyball and cycling.
