Tania Gergel is Director of Research at Bipolar UK, an Honorary Visiting Professor at Cardiff University and Honorary Senior Research Fellow at University College London and King's College London. Tania has a background in Ancient Philosophy, but now concentrates on Philosophy of Medicine and does research in Mental Health, Ethics and Law, as well as broader clinical research on the psychopathology and decision-making in severe mental illness. Her research has focused on advance decision making in bipolar (see www.advancechoice.org) and she now focuses on leading and supporting multidisciplinary research on bipolar and other severe mental illness, with a particular focus on suicide, mixed states and diagnostic issues.
