Xin Meng

About

Dr Xin Meng is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering (CEE). He received his BEng from Tsinghua University in 2015 and MSc and PhD from Imperial College London in 2016 and 2020, respectively. Prior to joining NUS, he worked as a Research Associate and then a Research Fellow at Imperial College London from 2020 to 2025, engaged in research as well as teaching at both undergraduate and graduate levels. Xin’s research interests lie in the areas of steel structures, metal additive manufacturing (3D printing) and sustainable and automated construction, with expertise in advanced structural testing, finite element modelling, structural optimisation and structural design. He emphasises strongly on the translational impact of his research, through contributions to design standards and engagement with the industry. His research work has been incorporated in both Eurocode 3 and the American Specifications. He maintains close industry collaborations across the UK, the Netherlands, China and Japan through various joint research and consultancy projects.
