Main duties and responsibilities At present, he is serving as a Professor at the Department of Nursing at the University of Thessaly, Greece (2024-present). He has been a permanent Academic staff in the HMU for the last 14 years (2010 – 2023) starting from the lower academic level as a lecturer of Community Nursing (2010 – 2016), assistant professor of Primary and home-based Nursing Healthcare (2016 – 2020) and associate professor of Home-based Nursing Healthcare (2020 – 2023). 2021-2022, he was elected as the Head of Dept and as a Director of the MSc program titled: “Advanced Clinical Practices in Health Sciences”. As the Head of the Nursing Department, his duties and responsibilities were mainly administrative and oriented to specific tasks as follows: • As a Head of the Dept – participated in Senate Committees of the HMU and he was responsible to the Dean of the School of Health Sciences. • Teaching undergraduate students in specific courses: Community Nursing, Mental Health Nursing, Family Nursing, Homecare Nursing. • Teaching postgraduate courses particularly “Social Gerontology” in the Master of Science (MSc) program entitled: “Management of Ageing and Chronic Diseases (GCN)” that is offered by distance (online) and implemented by the HELLENIC OPEN UNIVERSITY, (2017-present). • Responsible for the quality of both undergraduate and postgraduate study programs. • Responsible for the accreditation of the postgraduate study program by the Hellenic Authority of Higher Education. Specifically, organizing, managing, and supervising all the procedures (Review Procedure and Documentation, Compliance with the Principles: Strategic Planning, Feasibility and Sustainability of the Academic Unit; Quality Assurance Policy of the Institution and the Academic Unit; Student-centred Approach in Learning, Teaching and Assessment of Students, etc.). • Organizing and implementing preventive actions (pre-screening of geriatric syndromes) for the elderly population receiving health and social services by the local public health services. • Leading research activities of the postgraduate and doctoral (PhD) students beyond the department (education, training of the permanent staff of local healthcare services). • Contribute to the leadership of research activities of the research laboratories of the Dept. • Participation in several Geriatric local and European Conferences (f2f or online). • Supervision of (at least) 50 completed dissertations of undergraduate students • Supervision of 50 (at least) accomplished dissertations of (MSc) postgraduate students. • Supervision of 3 PhD students (ongoing) oriented to initiatives of Active and Healthy Ageing (AHA) objected to frailty and cognitive decline prevention, community resilience, building person psychological resilience (Building Back Better), physical activity, falls and prevention, nutrition, well-being, and social connectivity. All research activities enrol older adults (65+) receiving home-based nursing and social care by local healthcare services. • Advisory member in 4 other PhD theses. • Principal Investigator (PI) of funded programs by the Ministry of Social Services related to the development of a curriculum for caregivers. • Principal Investigator (PI) of an EU-funded program related to the development of a curriculum for Family and Community Nurses. • Collaboration with local enterprises (NGOs & Non-profit organisations) related to Healthy ageing (Alzheimer's, Cancer, etc.). Contribution to conceptual design, methods, and writing of the manuscript of several publications mainly as academic supervisor. • Reviewer of several scientific journals: Applied Nursing Research, Elsevier Journals [IF: 1.3]; International Journal for Quality in Health Care, Oxford Journals [IF: 2.5]; Risk Management and Healthcare Policy, Dove Press [IF: 3.200); Clinical Interventions in Aging, Dove press [IF: 3.8]; Healthcare – MDPI (IF: 2.8); International Journal of Environmental Research and Public Health, MDPI [IF: 4.614], Nursing reports, MDPI [IF: 2.6] and, particularly those indexed as core collection in Web of Science with Science Social Sciences Citation Index. Research activities • PI of the funding project regarding “Development of a curriculum and Practical Guidance for caregivers caring for older people” – (contract – under the Educational Department of Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs of Greece). • PI of the ENhANCE project -[EuropeaN curriculum for fAmily aNd Community nurse] - funded under the Erasmus+ Programme – Call for Proposals EACEA 04/2017 KA2 – Sector Skills Alliances and, coordinated by the Istituto Tecnologie Didattiche – Consiglio Nazionale delle Ricerche (ITD-CNR) – Italy, (2018-2020). • Participation in the research team in WP5 of the funded research project “Hospital at Home”, (ESPA, National Foundation Research Program, 2023). • Participation - initial member of the research team of the European-funded project ASAP-Training
