GABRIELE BONOMELLI
About
I am currently employed as postdoctoral researcher at the University of Warsaw, working on the project "Recognising saints in the High Middle Ages: local and papal formalisation of cults reconsidered" (P.I. Prof. Grzegorz Pac). My research interests encompass the political and religious history of the Late Middle Ages and the edition of latin documents. During the period April 2023-2025 I was Newton International Fellow at the University of Kent (2023-2025), researching the project "Dynamics of conflict. Original perspectives on religious turmoil in Late Medieval and Early Modern Europe (1378-1603)". On April 4, 2022 I have passed my PhD viva in Medieval history at the University of Bologna with full marks and cum laude (thesis: "L'uso politico della finzione. Le epistole fittizie nel medioevo latino e volgare (XII-XV s)" [The political use of fiction. Fictitious letters in the Latin and Vernacula Middle Ages, 12th-15th C.]). I have been Gastwissenschaftler at the Bergische Universität Wuppertal, under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Jochen Johrendt (September 2019 - April 2020), and I have spent six months doing research in numerous archival and manuscript funds in the UK (September 2020-March 2021) under the supervision of Prof. Barbara Bombi (University of Kent).
