Throughout his career, Dr. Gilpin has been instrumental in educating over 4,500 students at MSU, delivering more than 50 courses. He has built a strong national reputation in the economics of education, labor economics, and urban economics, with expertise in for-profit colleges and public libraries. Dr. Gilpin's scholarly contributions include publishing 18 academic peer-reviewed articles and two invited articles over the past two decades.
