Dr Jane Menzies completed her PhD at Monash University in 2005, on women’s participation in international assignments in Multinational Enterprises. Jane is now the MBA and Postgraduate Programs coordinator and Senior Lecturer in International Business at the University of Sunshine Coast. At her previous institution, Deakin University she held roles including the Director for the Master of Commerce, Director for the Master of Business Administration (International), and more recently the Deputy Director for the Higher Degrees by Research. Jane is an excellent teacher, often scoring 100% that students are satisfied with her teaching. Jane has led study tours to India, China, Malaysia, Indonesia, Vietnam the US and coordinated in an inbound program of MBA students from Stellenbosch University, South Africa. Jane has held visiting scholar positions at Aarhus University, Denmark, Rollins College, US, Shanghai Jiaotong University, China and the University of Melbourne. Jane has taught at Monash and Victoria University. Jane is a core member of UniSC's Indigenous and Transcultural Research Centre (ITRC). Her work aligns with the ITRC's mission through her research on gender equity, women’s entrepreneurship, and transitional challenges for international students, fostering inclusivity and cultural understanding in global contexts. Jane has published in high-quality outlets including International Business Review, Journal of Business Research, Thunderbird International Business Review, AIB Insights, International Journal of Consumer Studies, International Journal of Conflict Management, Management International Review, Human Resource Management Review, International Trade Journal, Australian Journal of Career Development, and a range of education journals. Jane published a book with Routledge in 2018 on ‘Innovation and Internationalisation: Australian SMEs in China. ’ She has two books InPress with Routledge that will be published in 2025/2026: Chavan, M, Menzies, J & Holt, L. Jane has over the years been awarded grants at the Australia China Council (2013), the Council for Australia Latin America Relations (2022) both at the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, and the Sunshine Coast Council (2022-2024). Jane has been a successful Higher Degrees by Research supervisor, bringing 5 PhD students and 2 DBA students to completion, 2 Masters of Leadership research students, and 2 Honours students. Jane’s work over the years has also gained media attention in national outlets, on women’s participation in international assignments, Australian business internationalisation to China, and more recently the Four Day Working Week. Jane has been the secretary for the Australian and New Zealand International Business Academy (ANZIBA) since 2017, and the conference Co-Chair for the ANZIBA 2023 conference held at Deakin University, Melbourne. Jane is also a member of the Academy of International Business (AIB), where she regularly presents her work.
