About
Janek Oźmin, Ireland, PhD in Architecture, is an architect, artist, researcher, and teacher who develops methods that integrate theory and practice to critically explore architecture’s relationship with cultural production. His multi-modal, practice-based thesis explored how the interior worlds of the suburban garage and penthouse apartment associated to masculine domesticities shape collective urban imaginaries and practices through installations, photography, interventional ethnography, gender studies, and creative writing. Combining diverse methods, including writing, architectural proposals installations, and visual documentation, he explores the power of everyday and domestic architecture. His work delves into how often-overlooked spaces shape our daily lives, using a unique blend of theoretical inquiry and practical experimentation to reveal the profound impact and aesthetic conditions that shape the built envionment. Janek has taught architecture and arts internationally and currently teaches Design Studio at KTH, Stockholm, alongside coordinating the Research Seminars in the Architecture environment. He has published and presented his work in venues such as ArkDes at the Moderna Museet, Stockholm, and the Royal Hibernian Academy Gallery, Dublin. Practice commissions include sculptures, landscape installations, architecture, curatorial and community-led collaborative design projects.
