Juliet Davis

About

Juliet Davis is Professor of Architecture and Urbanism and Head of the Welsh School of Architecture at Cardiff University. She studied Architecture at Cambridge University, graduating with a First-class degree in the BA in Architecture (Part I) in 1995 and the Edward S. Prior Prize for design excellence, and with a Commendation for the Diploma in Architecture (Part II) in 1999. Supported by an AHRC doctoral award, she undertook a PhD at the London School of Economics’ Cities Programme between 2007 and 2011 which focussed on the construction of a planned regeneration legacy of the 2012 Olympic Games. Before entering academia in 2007, she practiced architecture and urban design in London for ten years, contributing to Eric Parry Architects’ regeneration of St. Martin in the Fields and Stanton William’s Millenium Seedbank, amongst other projects. Juliet’s teaching and research span the fields of Architecture, Urban Design and City Planning History/Theory. She is the author of two books and numerous other publications across these areas reflecting interests in the politics of urban change and post-industrial regeneration, megaevent-led transformation, the role of the heritage and memory in urban futures, the image of urban places, and the potential for caring cities. Her research has been funded by UKRI, Grosvenor, Cardiff University, The Paul Mellon Centre for Studies in British Art, and others.
