Dr. Ng's major fields of interest are in sustainable solid waste management, disposal facility design, and data-driven waste policy. Kelvin's research projects have been supported by NSERC, Mitacs, CFI, JELF, Innovation Saskatchewan, Ministry of Environment, and other national, provincial, and municipal sponsors. Kelvin has received several awards in both teaching and research. He has served as a reviewer for over hundreds of refereed journals and conference proceedings, including influential journals such as Nature Sustainability (JIF: 27.1), Nature Communications (JIF: 15.7), Chemical Engineering Journal (JIF: 13.2), Sustainable Cities and Society (JIF: 12.0), Resources, Conservation & Recycling (JIF: 10.9), Journal of Cleaner Production (JIF: 10.0), Environment International (JIF: 9.7), and many others. Kelvin has reviewed over 650 journal and conference manuscripts. Kelvin is currently serving as an Associate Editor and Guest Editor for Waste Management (Elsevier), an editor for Environmental Science and Pollution Research (Springer), and an editorial board member for Ecological Informatics (Elsevier). Kelvin has made editorial decisions on 335+ journal manuscripts as editor or associate editor. Kelvin is an elected Fellow of the Canadian Society for Civil Engineering. Kelvin is a Professional Engineer with Permission to Consult in Saskatchewan, Canada. He currently serves on the Solid Waste Management Advisory Committee (SWMAC) with the Saskatchewan Ministry of Environment. He was the former Chair of the Awards Committee (2022-2024) with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Saskatchewan (APEGS). From 2018 to 2024, Kelvin was the Environmental Division Chair (2018-2024) for the Canadian Society for Civil Engineering (CSCE). Internationally, he has organized and chaired/co-chaired eight international conferences, including the CSCE General Conference in 2015, and seven CSCE Environmental Engineering Conferences from 2019 to 2025.
