About

Stergios Emmanouil is a Professional Civil Engineer [University of Patras, 2016; GPA: 7.73/10 (upper 3% of Civil Engineering graduates)], and a Master of Science (M.Sc.) graduate from the Department of Civil Engineering and Geosciences of the Delft University of Technology [TU Delft, 2018; GPA: 7.53/10], where he followed the field of Hydraulic Engineering, specializing in Hydraulic Structures and Flood Risk. He, then, moved on to receive his Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree from the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the University of Connecticut [UConn, 2022; GPA: 4.00/4.00], where he served as a research assistant and a member of the Eversource Energy Center group. Currently, he is a Research Assistant Professor at the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering and the Eversource Energy Center at UConn. He is a member of the Technical Chamber of Greece (2017), the European Geosciences Union (2019), the American Geosciences Union (2019), as well as the American Society of Civil Engineers (M.ASCE, 2022), an Associate Editor for Stochastic Environmental Research and Risk Assessment (2022), and a Reviewer for numerous scientific journals, including the Journal of Hydrology (2019), Water Resources Research (2019), and Earth's Future (2021). His current research focuses but is not limited to, flood risk analysis and evaluation, probabilistic design of hydraulic structures/flood defenses, hydrologic variability & climate change impact assessment, extreme rainfall analysis, as well as statistical downscaling. Other interests include software development for various civil engineering applications, in addition to applications concerning the water-energy nexus.
