Vickey Nandal

About

Dr. Vickey Nandal is a Postdoctoral Fellow/scientist specializing in advanced alloys, high-entropy alloys, superalloys, artificial intelligence, and machine learning applications in materials science. Recently, he has been awarded the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions Postdoctoral Fellowship (MSCA-PF), funded by the European Commission. He has joined the FZU-Czech Academy of Sciences, Prague as a MSCA Postdoctoral Fellow, since November 2024. Prior to FZU Prague, he worked as a Postdoctoral Researcher at the National Institute for Materials Science (NIMS) in Japan. He published his NIMS postdoc research work in Nature's Scientific Reports and Elsevier's Next Materials. He was also awarded with the "Best Presentation Award" at the 14th ISAJ Symposium at Hokkaido University, Japan. Additionally, during his postdoctoral tenure, he worked as a visiting lecturer at the Graduate School of Science and Technology, University of Tsukuba, Japan. Dr. Nandal earned his Ph.D. in August 2021 from the Department of Materials Science and Engineering at the Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi). His Ph.D. thesis focused on the "Effect of alloying and pre-deformation on the aging response of FCC-based Co1.5CrFeNi1.5 high entropy alloys with varying Ti and Al contents." During his Ph.D., he also received a fellowship from the Ministry of Education, Government of India. In recognition of his research, he received an early-doc fellowship from the IIT Delhi after the completion of his doctorate. Prior to his Ph.D., Dr. Nandal worked as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the World College of Technology and Management (WCTM) in Gurugram, Haryana, India. He has been acknowledged for his research by the TMS HEA 2019 committee members at an international conference in Seattle, Washington, USA, in November 2019. Additionally, he was invited in a GMSI-GSDM Summer Research Camp hosted by Prof. Satoshi Watanabe (University of Tokyo, Japan) in July-August 2018. Dr. Nandal received his M.Tech. degree in 2015 from the Department of Materials Science and Engineering at the National Institute of Technology Hamirpur, Himachal Pradesh. During his M.Tech., he received an "Excellent Paper Award" for the best presentation and content at an International Conference in March 2015. He completed his B.Tech. degree in July 2013 from the Department of Mechanical Engineering at JMIT, Radaur, affiliated with Kurukshetra University, Haryana, India. For his bachelor's studies, Dr. Nandal was awarded with a four-year Prime Minister Scholarship Scheme (PMSS) by the Ministry of Defence, Government of India.
